Broadcast News Writing (Samples)

Scenario: I was given video of a sink hole accident to write four different angles on. The original story is 40 seconds with three (SOT) sound bytes, the updated version of the same story is also 40 seconds with three sound bytes, 20 seconds of the story is straight news written for radio and 30 seconds is written for radio as well with a (VSOT). In television news the video is usually written to the left with time codes depicting what is on the vid, while the track (or text) is displayed on the right with the bytes.

Clarification: SOT is sound on tape which includes someone else speaking, like witnesses or authorities on the scene of an accident. VSOT is voice sound on tape which is usually a prerecorded voice added to the news story. View my television and radio news writing samples here
